Why AI Will Create More Entrepreneurs

By Jake Press

Every few decades, a new technology lowers the cost of starting something. The printing press did it for ideas. The internet did it for storefronts. AI is doing it for everything in between: the writing, the research, the follow-up, the bookkeeping, the design, the customer support.

I'm convinced of one thing: AI will not shrink the number of entrepreneurs. It will multiply them.

The real barrier was never the idea

Most people I meet already have a business idea. What stopped them was the long list of things they didn't know how to do, or couldn't afford to hire for. A website. A sales process. Someone to answer the phone. A person to keep the books in order.

Those used to be gates. Today, each one can be handled by an AI Employee for a fraction of the cost and in a fraction of the time.

What changes when the gates open

  • Solo founders can operate like teams. One person with the right AI workflows can cover marketing, intake, scheduling, and follow-up.
  • Side projects become real businesses. When the busywork is automated, a few focused hours a week go much further.
  • Experience becomes the advantage. The nurse, the contractor, the teacher, the mechanic: people who know a problem deeply can now build the solution without a technical team.

The risk is not AI. It's waiting.

The entrepreneurs who win the next decade won't be the most technical. They'll be the ones who start early, stay curious, and treat AI as a teammate rather than a threat.

You don't need to understand how the models work. You need to understand where your business loses time, and where an AI Employee could take that work off your plate. That is exactly why I created the W.O.R.K. Framework: a simple way to look at your business and see where to begin.

Build with intention

Easier doesn't mean aimless. When anyone can start a business, the question shifts from "can I?" to "why am I doing this?" The founders who last are the ones who build a business that serves a life, not one that consumes it.

Technology is the tool. Purpose is the point.

If you've been sitting on an idea, this is your sign. The barrier is lower than it has ever been. Take one small step this week.
